Local SEO Checklist: How to Rank in Google Maps in 2026
A practical local SEO checklist for Indian businesses: Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and website fixes that bring “near me” calls.

When someone searches “dentist near me” or “CA in Jaipur”, Google shows a map with three businesses at the top. Those three get most of the calls. This checklist covers what actually moves you into that top three.
1. Complete your Google Business Profile
- Choose the most specific primary category (for example “Dental clinic”, not just “Clinic”).
- Add your exact address, service areas, opening hours and phone number.
- Upload at least 10 real photos: the outside of your premises, your team and your work.
- List every service with a short description and, where possible, a price.
2. Get reviews every week
Reviews are one of the strongest local ranking signals. Ask every happy customer, and make it easy: send your review link on WhatsApp right after the service. Reply to every review, including the negative ones, politely and quickly.
3. Keep your NAP consistent
NAP means Name, Address and Phone. It must be exactly the same on your website, Google profile, Justdial, IndiaMART, Facebook and every other listing. Small differences confuse Google and weaken your ranking.
4. Fix your website
- Create one page per service, with your city in the title, for example “Root Canal Treatment in Jaipur”.
- Show your address and a Google Map on the contact page.
- Make sure the site loads fast on mobile. Most local searches happen on phones.
- Add LocalBusiness schema so Google clearly understands your location.
5. Post on Google every week
Offers, new photos and updates on your Google Business Profile show Google that your business is active. One post a week is enough.
How long does it take?
Most businesses see movement in 4–8 weeks, and strong results in 3–6 months, depending on competition in your area. Need help? Our local SEO plans start at ₹4,999 a month, with a free audit first.
